The total cost of constructing all four phases of the airport exceeds 26 billion euros, where the construction of the new Istanbul Airport is undertaken by the company “Istanbul Grand Airport”, as the investment for the first phase of the airport amounted to 6 billion euros.

During which the airport was basically built, in addition to two runways, 8 taxiway, 3 technical works areas, 88 passenger bridges, a main terminal hall that can accommodate 90 million passengers annually, and other important facilities.
In the second phase, two additional runways and an additional parallel taxiway were added to the airport, and only two phases remain, which are:
Phase Three: Includes the construction of a new passenger terminal built on an area of 500,000 square meters, overlooking the sea, and has a capacity for 30 million passengers annually.
Additionally, a new runway, another parallel taxiway, and an aircraft parking area will be built.
Phase Four: This phase involves the construction of a new passenger terminal on an area of 340,000 square meters, with a capacity of approximately 30 million passengers annually, in addition to constructing the sixth and final aircraft runway.

In the year 2019, just one year after its opening, the number of passengers through the new Airport exceeded 40 million, surpassing the populations of major global cities declared by the United Nations.
The figure continued to rise from the project’s opening until 2021, reaching 103.5 million passengers in just three years. During this period, the airport operated 730,083 flights to 251 destinations, despite the global transportation sector coming to a halt for about a year and a half due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to data released by the Directorate General Of Civil Aviation (DHMI), 70,396,167 passengers used Istanbul Airport during eleven months of the year 2023.
The New Airport boasts an annual capacity of 90 million passengers, with the main passenger terminal building covering an area of 1.4 million square meters, as it offers accessibility from Istanbul to 41 countries within 3 hours and to 66 countries within 5 hours.
