TOKI Houses Amaze the World in the February 2023 Earthquake

Despite the collapse of more than 230,000 buildings in Turkey as a result of the earthquake that struck the south of the country on February 6 / 2023 /TOKI buildings belonging to the government withstood the natural disaster, prompting the Turkish Ministry of Environment to send letters to governors of the affected states to allow residents of those buildings to enter their homes. According to data from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, there are 133,759 houses built by the company in the ten provinces affected by the earthquake, none of which were damaged.

Toki's buildings overlook the street directly and are covered in white snow

In addition to the houses that TOKI built that were not affected by the earthquake, there are also social facilities that the government company built, such as schools, mosques, kindergartens, and bazaars (markets that the state establishes for farmers and merchants to display their crops and goods on a weekly basis) that were also not affected by the recent earthquake. The stability of these projects is due to the fact that these buildings are built on a modern earthquake-resistant raft foundation, which allows the load to be distributed evenly on the ground.

TOKI projects have been one of the most important tools of the Turkish government in recent years, in terms of the urban transformation project that aims to rebuild all houses built before 1999 to be earthquake-resistant.
